Welcome To Battle Axe Page |
 |
The art of battle axe throwing has been around for as long as metal axe heads have. They appear in an almost endless variety of shapes throughout time and have played an important part in Scottish history.
The battle of Bannockburn was undoubtedly of one of the most spectacular battles of the Scottish Wars of Independence. Although the struggle against the English was to continue for 13 years more, the Scottish victory was of enormous importance as it secured the future of the throne for Robert Bruce, King of Scots.
If you have never thrown an axe you're in for a real treat. Most people throw the axe too hard and as a result accuracy suffers. The key is getting the axe to rotate while remaining upright. Dont throw them like a ball, keep the arm fairly straight and snap the wrist to get it spinning. Come on out and test your skill!
Children-Womens-Mens The Battle Axe competition starts at 3:00 pm and certificates and battle axe will be awarded for best in Children, Women & Men. www.flyinghawkesaxethrowing.com.
